Easy DIY Gift Ideas with Menorah Sketchbook

The best moments that we recall from our childhood are often the simplest ones that we spent with our loved ones. It’s not the expensive remote cars or the elaborate train sets that stand out in our memories. Instead, it is the times spent flying kites in the terrace, setting sail paper boats on rain puddles and pretending to take pictures of our friends with a paper camera.

These little crafts were made and admired with abundant enthusiasm and eagerness. So why not recreate these wonderful times that we cherish so much? Let’s make a simple yet heartfelt DIY gift for a loved one, just like we did in the old days.

We are going to be making our craft with the Menorah Mixed Media Sketchbook. The versatile Mixed Media Sketchbook is 180 GSM thick which makes it durable and sturdy enough to handle glue and other embellishments without warping. It is a versatile paper that is perfect for Dry Media like Sakura Pen Art, Soft Pastels, Oil Pastel, Colour Pencils etc and Wet mediums like Acrylics, Gouache, Water Colour paintings, Tempera, Poster colour etc.

Here are the steps to recreate the DIY gift idea by @artfulwanderer_

Materials required

  1. Menorah Mixed media sketchbook
  2. Pen
  3. Colour pencil
  4. Scissor
  5. Glue

1. Using a pencil, draw an outline of a Polaroid camera on the 180 GSM Sketchbook

2. Go over the pencil outline with a black pen to define the camera's shape clearly.

3. Use any coloured pencil of your choice to shade the camera.

4. Cut along the camera's outline using scissors.

5. Cut out a long and considerably wide strip of 180 GSM paper. Leave some extra space at the top and fold the paper.

6. Fold the strip in half and glue both ends together. This will be Photo No. 1.

7. Prepare another similar strip of paper and glue the ends together. This will be Photo No. 2

8. Cut out a thin rectangular strip of 180 GSM paper to act as the connector.

9. Insert the connector strip into the small gap at the top of Photo No.1

10. Insert the rest of the connector on the right through Photo No. 2 and fold the photo towards the left

11. Insert the leftover connector strip on the left side, into the gap between Photo No.2 The photos should now glide over each other smoothly without tearing apart due to the thickness of the 180 GSM Paper Sketchbook

12. Draw any clip art of your choice on both the photo strips

13. Paste a small piece of paper labelled "pull" on top of the first photo strip

14. Paste the connected photos to the back of the camera cutout

15. The photos will now easily glide out when you pull the tab and glide back in when you push it back inside

Recreate many such nostalgic art & craft ideas and turn them into long-lasting keepsakes with Menorah sketchbooks.
