How to Paint Cookies with Gouache

Here are the steps to recreate the cookie painting with @farheen_khalid007:

 

Materials required

Menorah Mixed Media sketchbook

Pencil

Gouache paint

Round brush

Washi tape

 

  1. Make a frame of your desired size on the mixed media sketchbook with washi tape
  1. Draw the outline of cookies with pencil

  1. Use porcelain colour gouache for the base colour of the cookies, leaving a heart shape at the centre for strawberry jam topping

  1. Use Natural biscuit colour gouache in the 180 GSM sketchbook for the next layer of the cookie

  1. Highlight the border and inside areas with beige and sand colour gouache on the 180 GSM Paper Sketchbook

  1. Use light brown on the borders of the cookies for a golden-brown effect in the gouache painting

 

  1. Fill the heart space for the jam in the 180 GSM Paper with crimson red and then highlight with cherry colour gouache
  1. Paint the frame black to create a contrast effect for the painted cookies

  1. For a final touch, highlight the strawberry jam with white to add texture and create a glistening effect to the food illustration
